HSA regulates health products to meet standards of safety, quality and efficacy.
Through MOH the Government manages the public healthcare system to ensure that good and affordable basic medical services are available to all Singaporeans. We achieve this by providing subsidised medical services while promoting individual responsibility for the costs of healthcare services.
While our population is encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle and take responsibility for their own health, safety nets are in place to ensure that no Singaporean is denied access to healthcare or turned away by public hospitals because of lack of money. The public healthcare delivery system is geographically structured as vertically integrated delivery networks: National University Health System (NUHS), National Healthcare Group (NHG) and Singapore Health Services (SHS).

National Environment Agency (NEA) is the leading public organisation responsible for ensuring a clean and green environment, and the sustainable development of Singapore. Its key roles are to protect Singapore’s resources from pollution, maintain a high level of public health and provide timely meteorological information. NEA also develops and spearheads environmental initiatives and programmes through its partnership with the People, Public and Private sectors. It is committed to motivating every individual to care for the environment as a way of life, in order to sustain a quality living environment for present and future generations.
PUB is a statutory board under the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) that oversees water issues in an integrated way. PUB’s mission is to ensure Singapore has a reliable and secure water supply, and protect it from inland and coastal flooding.
Through the Four National Taps (local catchment water, imported water, NEWater, desalinated water), PUB has ensured a diversified and sustainable supply of water for Singapore. PUB also manages both inland and coastal flood risks holistically, and leads and coordinates whole-of-government efforts in ensuring coastal and flood resilience.
PUB actively engages with stakeholders including residents and businesses to promote water conservation and flood resilience, emphasising that everyone has a vital role in safeguarding Singapore’s precious water resources and being flood-resilient against the backdrop of climate change.
The Singapore Chemical Industry Council Limited (SCIC) is the official industry association representing the Singapore Energy and Chemicals cluster in the private sector. It plays a proactive role in representing the interests of this manufacturing sector and continues to promote it as a major economic pillar of Singapore.
SCIC has a membership network of more than 170 companies including key multi-national corporations (MNCs) and small & medium enterprises (SMEs) that support the entire chemical industry supply chain. These members provide vast resources and opportunities in supporting develop a conducive business environment for the chemical industry. SCIC also provides a platform for industry members to strengthen our position in addressing advocacy issues as a single body.
SCIC is one of the Standards Development Organisations appointed by Enterprise Singapore which administers the National Standardisation Programme led by the Singapore Standards Council. SDO@SCIC manages both the Chemical Standards Committee (CSC) and Environment and Resources Standards Committee (ERSC). The national standards development projects under the CSC covers key areas of LNG bunkering & fuel oil bunkering, surface coatings, chemical & processes, nanotechnology as well as petroleum processes and products. ERSC focuses on spearheading the development and adoption of standards on sustainable development in the areas of water, environment, energy and solid waste which would be relevant for the chemical industry.
SCDF exists to ensure the safety of the population of the economy to near-normal condition during any eventuality. Its main roles are to provide fire fighting, rescue and emergency medical services; as well as formulate, implement and enforce regulations on fire safety and civil defence shelter matters. To fulfil its roles, the SCDF has established 4 systems to cater to Singapore’s emergency needs – Warning; Protection; Rescue; Command, Control and Communications.

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) was formed as a statutory board under MEWR on 1 April 2019 to oversee food safety and food security from farm-to-fork. The SFA brings together food-related functions carried out by the former Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore, the National Environment Agency and the Health Sciences Authority. As the lead agency for food-related matters, SFA’s mission is to ensure and secure a supply of safe food for Singapore. SFA works hand-in-hand with the industry and consumers to grow our three “food baskets” – Diversify import sources, Grow local, and Grow overseas, as well as ensure food safety from farm to fork. SFA also partners food businesses to strengthen capabilities, tap on technologies to raise productivity, undertake research to develop new lines of business, and catalyse industry transformation to ensure food security
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) is a uniformed organisation under the purview of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The mission of the SPF is to prevent, deter and detect crime to ensure the safety and security of Singapore. This is done through its focus on the 5 broad areas of Police work – Frontline Policing, Counter and E-services, Investigation, Community Engagement and Public Security & Order.
Established on 1 April 2008, the Workplace Safety and Health Council (WSHC) comprises leaders appointed from major industry sectors (including construction, manufacturing, marine industries, petrochemicals, and logistics), government, unions, employers as well as professionals from the legal, insurance and academic fields. The Council works closely with the Ministry of Manpower and other government agencies, the tripartite partners, the industry, and professional associations to develop strategies to raise WSH standards in Singapore.
The Council’s main functions are:
- Build industry capabilities to better manage WSH;
- Promote safety and health at work, and recognise companies with good WSH records;
- Implement acceptable WSH practices
